How to order a transcript

Crown Court transcripts can be quickly and easily ordered two ways:

Payment

For Parties to Proceedings and Interested Parties, payment is required prior to the commencement of your transcript’s production.  Payment can be easily made by direct deposit or credit card. Turnaround time commences from receipt of payment. For Ministry of Justice orders, the agency will be invoiced for services.

Please note: Some transcripts require revision by the presiding officer, such as a judgment. Once the transcript is completed, we provide to the presiding officer for approval prior to delivery to you. This can take time however, we will work with the court to expedite this process as much as possible.

Transcript of the whole hearing from start to finish. For a hearing lasting a day or less, please supply the start and finish times. For a hearing lasting over a day, please supply the different dates and, if possible, the start and finish times for each day. Please note that if you request a transcript of a criminal trial, this will cover the Prosecution opening speech up to and including the verdict.

Who can request a transcript?

A transcript can be ordered by anyone, however if the hearing was heard in private or a reporting restriction applies, approval from the court must be obtained first.

Delivery Turnaround Timeframes

For Crown Court proceedings heard within the South East jurisdiction, the following turnaround times are available:

  • Overnight (24 hours)*
  • Within 48 hours*
  • Within 3 working days*
  • Within 7 working days*
  • Within 12 working days*

Please note: There may be a lead time of up to 10 days for audio recordings in open court in the Crown Court.

Turnaround times commence after receipt of audio and prepayment for non-account clients. For account clients, turnaround times commence after receipt of audio.
