Auscript is the transcription services provider to the International Jurisdiction of the Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Transcripts of proceedings heard in courtrooms 1 to 4 can now be requested quickly and easily from Auscript, with a choice of transcription services available.

Transcripts can be ordered online now. An estimate will be provided for approval prior to production.

How to order a transcript

Transcripts can be ordered online now. An estimate (based on audio minutes) will be provided for approval prior to production.

For parties to proceedings and interested parties, payment of the full amount is required prior to the commencement of transcript production for non-account customers. Payment can be easily made by direct deposit, credit card or BACS* transfer. For account customers, we require your written approval to proceed.

Please note: The Court is required to approve some transcripts (and all judgments) before they can be released to you. The time taken for the approvals process is beyond our control, but we will work with you to expedite this process as much as possible.

If you have requested a specific element of a hearing (eg. judgment, evidence in chief of a witness, counsels’ closing submissions etc) you will be sent a quotation for the full element, regardless of the times you have provided.

There is a minimum order charge of 30 minutes for any single request.

*BACS payments received after 5:30pm will be processed the next business day.

Transcript types

A variety of transcript types can be ordered.

Please clearly state the type of transcript you require when submitting an order.

Type of transcript Description and comments
Whole hearing Transcript of the whole hearing from start to finish.  This will include any judgment, sent as a separate and subsequent transcript, when approved by the Judge.
Counsels’ opening and/or closing submissions The submissions of each party at the start of the hearing and/or before the Judge considers his/her judgment.
Evidence The evidence presented by a witness/party.  Evidence is broken down into three possible elements 1) evidence-in-chief (the questioning of one’s own witness), 2) cross-examination (the opportunity to question the other party’s witness), and sometimes 3) re-examination (the opportunity to re-question one’s own witness).
Judgment A formal decision and the Judge’s reasons given at the end of the proceedings.
Proceedings after judgment Proceedings following the judgment where there may be discussions as to costs, appeal, etc.
Sentencing remarks/comments Where the Judge explains the sentence, and reasons for a sentence passed, on an offender.
Order An order made by the Judge (that is not a judgment).
Events and other For any other transcript request, describe the precise nature of the proceedings for which the request is being made.

Who can request a transcript?

A transcript can be ordered by anyone, however there are occasions when the Court’s permission to obtain a transcript is required.  You will be advised of that requirement, should the need arise.

Delivery turnaround timeframes

For proceedings heard within the International Jurisdiction of the Westminster Magistrates’ Court, the following turnaround times are available:

  • Same Day* (Must be confirmed by 5pm the working day prior to the proceeding)
  • 2 Working Days*
  • 5 Working Days*

Turnaround time commences from when we receive payment (for non-account customers) and upon written confirmation from an account customer.

Delivery is intended by 5pm of the working day due.
