Criminal transcripts can be quickly and easily ordered two ways:

If you are a Court user, you can place a transcript request through DARTS. Your transcript will be delivered through the DARTS portal in accordance with the turnaround time requested. Should you be unable to order through DARTS, please order directly with Auscript as per the instructions above.

Payment
For Parties to Proceedings and Interested Parties, payment is required prior to the commencement of your transcript’s production.  Payment can be easily made by direct deposit or credit card. Turnaround time commences from receipt of payment. For Ministry of Justice orders, the agency will be invoiced for services.

Please note: Certain transcripts require approval by the presiding officer (Court), eg Crown Court cases with Reporting Restrictions. When such a transcript is produced, we are required to send it to the Court for approval prior to delivery to you. This can take some time, but we will work with the Court to expedite this process as much as possible.

If you are experiencing issues downloading or viewing and downloading the EX107 form, please make sure you are using the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC. If you don’t have the latest version, you can download this from the Adobe website.

In certain specific circumstances (see the relevant Procedure Rules), a Judge or Master may make an order that the cost of a transcript will be paid for by the Court i.e. at public expense. Your transcript request will be dealt with more speedily if you provide a copy of the Judge’s order with this form.

When submitting an order, you should state if you know that the transcript already exists and you’re just seeking a copy. Please also state the number of transcript copies you require. If you are unsure how much the transcript will cost, you may request an estimate.

When ordering, you are required to state the delivery turnaround you require.

The delivery turnaround times for Crown Court proceedings heard within the South East jurisdiction are:

  • Overnight (24 hours)*
  • Within 48 hours*
  • Within 3 working days
  • Within 7 working days*
  • Within 12 working days*

Please note that, except for audio recordings in open court in the Crown Court, there will be a “lead time” of up to 10 working days for the Court staff to locate and send the audio recording. Courts will always try, where possible, to accommodate requests of an urgent nature.

The delivery turnaround times for civil and family matters held in Her Majesty’s Courts in England and Wales, are:

  • Within 48 hours*
  • Within 12 working days*

Any requests for a transcript for a Judgment will need to be approved by the Judge, therefore additional time will be required before the transcript can be released. Please refer to the EX107 Guidance Notes for further information.

Indicate that your hearing was held by telephone when ordering your transcript. If you know the details, provide the name of the telephone service provider and the billing number during the ordering process.

Costs are calculated based on the number of folios (72 words) transcribed and the delivery turnaround requested.

Rates per folio, per delivery turnaround are as follows:

Please note: Prices above are VAT exclusive. On average, one minute of audio equates to two folios.

Costs for orders by multiple parties: If, prior to completion of an order, an additional authorised request for transcription is received, the total cost will be divided equally between all of those who have submitted an order. The total cost will comprise one transcript fee together with the cost of additional copies.

A Reporting Restriction is an order made by a Judge / Master prohibiting publication of case details. If a Reporting Restriction is known, details of any Reporting Restrictions (e.g. date of order; name of judge; contents of the restriction) must be noted when ordering.

Court of Appeal Criminal Division and Administrative Court transcripts are not provided by Auscript.
